Update 1:00pm by Dave

Surgery has been completed and everything went great. We just met with the head surgeon of the team and he was very positive. Carol came off the heart-lung nachine very easily and did not require any additional blood at all which is a great sign, She is now in the ICU area getting hooked up to a million tubes and cables. Also. He said when they got the old valve out, he could that she actually had this condition from birth and that the back pressure which should have been close to zero, was actually 84 and that for her heart to get a normal blood pressure of 120/80, it was actually pumping at something over 200!

In your prayers for Carol and the successful surgery, please include a thanks for Dr. Shin and his OR team of 11. God has truly blessed them with a great skill and made it available to Carol.

  2. Indeed, that is great news! One lucky gal if she's had this condition since birth. I know they used to use pig valves...can you share any info on why mechanical vs pig? You know I have more than a normal interest in this! Tell Carol we are very happy for her. Sally (and Terry) Spears
