Our First Geocache Find!

A couple of days ago I blogged that we are beginning to explore the hobby of geocaching.  We went out again last night to the same park that we went to our first time.  There were supposed to be three active caches in that park.  We looked again for the first cache among the rocks, but still couldn't find it and didn't know what we were looking for except that it was supposed to be small.  It was about 7:15 pm and the sky was threatening more rain.

We followed the GPS coordinates across the lawn of the park to this thicket.

This plastic container was hiding inside the thicket.  Dave grabbed it and we investigated the contents of the container.  We signed the log with the pencil that was provided.  The stuff inside didn't look too interesting which was good since we hadn't brought anything to trade.  The container was a bit cracked and was damp inside so it wasn't too inviting.  Dave carefully put the cache back where he had found it, after we took pictures, of course!  Success is sweet!

We tried to find the final cache in a different corner of the park, but we looked and looked in the trees and on the ground and couldn't find that one.  When we got home, we saw online that several other people had reported that the cache might have been "muggled", which means it was taken by a non-geocacher.  A geo-cacher would never do such a thing, of course!
