Our next RV trip is planned for August 20, so we hope the motorhome will be ready by then. In the meantime, we are thinking about taking the car and staying in a motel (horrors!) and possibly going to the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) conference in Redmond, Oregon.
I didn’t even know that FMCA was holding their convention in Redmond this year. Roberta and Wayne of Our RV Travels mentioned in their blog that they are going to the convention and planning to attend one of the Picasa seminars taught by Chris and Jim Guld of Geeks on Tour. Roberta introduced me to Geeks on Tour and I recently joined their site, which offers video tutorials on many topics, not just Picasa.
We can’t go for the whole conference (August 11-14) so we have see if it makes sense to pay the high daily rate ($65 each per day for non-members but includes seminars and entertainment) as well as making the four hour drive each way from home, and besides all that, paying to stay in Redmond/Bend. Have any of you ever attended one of the FMCA conferences?

ReplyDeleteWe haven't personally attended an FMCA rally but we have talked to several folks that attended the one in Perry, Georgia and they said it was great.
Mike and I are trying to decide whether or not we want to attend the Escapade in Indina. This is the Escapee rally. We just are BIG groupie kind of folks. I'm not sure how much learning goes on as compared to how much socializing. We'll see.....

Yes, we've been to FMCA conferences. We dropped out of FMCA because they did us no good whatsoever Their magazine is full of self promotional blather about their officers and committee people all the time, and they certainaly lean heavily toward the big fancy huge motorhomes. IT was an expense that had no payback. And we won't go to Camping World for service. Yes, we are opinionated, but we have enough history to back up our opinions, so there!

ReplyDelete3 yrs ago we attended the one in Pamona CA, there were 2,500 RV's there and this January we went to Indio CA which was much smaller about 1,200 RV's.
If you are not a FMCA member it can be more expensive to attend, especially if you are not camping there. They have many many classes on many different classes. Some are good some are not. Of course they have many many many vendors there selling their wares.
