Nephi, Utah to St. George, Utah

Today's drive was fairly easy.  We left Nephi, UT at 9:35 am.  Again we enjoyed seeing the mountains on both the east and west sides of I-15.  We climbed to an elevation of over 6600 feet and stayed around that elevation until we began our descent to St. George, which is around 2500 feet.  We passed very few towns and had a quick lunch at Wendy's at a rest stop in Fillmore.  I saw from the road signs that Fillmore used to be the capital of Utah and that we could have visited the Territorial State House.  Maybe another time.

The next major town was Cedar City which offered us the chance to go east and see the Brian Head Ski area.  We passed up that opportunity but may do that at a later date.  We saw the spires of many Mormom churches.  It seems as if they are located every mile or so, and every one is big.  But I guess that's to be expected.

We passed turnoffs for Capitol Reef National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park, as well as Kolob Canyon in Zion National Park.  We hope to visit all of those while we are here.

We're staying at Temple View RV Resort in St George.  The park does, in fact, have a view of the St. George Mormon Temple.  The red rock hills behind the temple and the Dixie Mountains behind the red rocks are spectacular.  This picture doesn't do the scenery justice.

This view to the east of I-15 gave us a glimpse of the wonders of God's creation that we are seeing on this trip.
