Other than a problem with our windshield wipers, which Dave was able to fix by hitting them with a hammer, we made it home to Vancouver, Washington with no problems. Believe it or not, the hammer solution was given to Dave by an RV dealer. It worked and the wipers performed flawlessly the rest of the way home. Of course, the wipers never malfunction unless it's raining. Rain was predicted, but we had several stretches of blue sky and no rain. The rain held off at home until we were almost done unloading the motorhome.
When we get back in town, we usually stop at a Fred Meyer store so that Dave can disconnect the car and put gas in the motorhome. The first thing I do is take the car to a car wash. It badly needed a wash today. Then I pick up our mail if the post office is open, which it wasn't today. I returned our library books and picked up a few new holds, although the majority of our holds were suspended while we were gone.
Dave found an unpleasant surprise waiting for him at home when he got there. Some big tree branches had fallen onto the spot where he parks the motorhome. We think that it happened during a big wind storm yesterday. If the motorhome had been parked in its usual spot, its roof may have been damaged.
Now that I'm home, reality is setting in quickly. I need to do all those Christmas preparations that I have avoided all month--Christmas cards, food preparation, baking, shopping, etc. 'Tis the season!
Glad you made it home safely. Will the boys be home for Christmas? How is your d-i-l feeling? I woke up at 2:14 and could not go back to sleep so decided to check out some blogs. Hope you have a good day. What kind of goodies will you be preparing?
ReplyDeleteThank God your motor home was sitting there. You could have had some bad damage. We have trouble finding a car wash(automatic) that the truck will fit in to. When it is cool outside we like to let the brushes do the work.
ReplyDeleteLucky you were on the road and not parked in the driveway! Season's Greetings! :)
ReplyDeleteHome for Christmas. What a joyful concept, one that evokes many memories of when we had a stix-n-brix. However, "home for Christmas" is what we always are, because we truly live the phrase "home is where the heart is." We are home for Christmas here in Benson because it is our current home, but we have been home for Christmas in RV parks in Florence, AZ, Tualatin, OR, and Wilsonville, OR. So, hurry through your Christmas preparations, but don't forget that all the paper and tinsel and trees and candles aren't Christmas. Christmas is in your heart, and in a tiny Baby born so many years ago.

ReplyDeleteSo glad you're home! The weather outside is frightful...in California! Loved the Handel score and your beautiful Christmas ornament. You will have to tell me how you dig these things up for the blog. So high-tech!
