While staying at Maryhill State Park, we decided to drive south on Highway 97. After leaving crossing the Columbia River and leaving Biggs Junction, we drove through a canyon area.
The scenery soon changed towheat fields and then range land. We had excellent view of several mountains: Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, a small view of Mt. Rainier, and Mt. Jefferson, as well as the Three Sisters.

In the small town of Wasco, we saw this former school.
When we got to Maupin, we crossed the Deschutes River. Maupin City Park is the "take-off" place for rafting in the summer.

ReplyDeleteWow! Views of all those mountains! On our trips into Hood River Valley and that part of the state, we usually only saw Mt. Hood and Mount Adams. Maybe we saw others and didn't recognize them. We love to photograph mountains, and our "family calendar" for 2011 will have at least 24 mountain pictures including Hood, Adams, Rainier and St Helens that you mentioned. For $30 I could make an extra copy just for you (we figure that's how much it takes for us to produce each one each year, with card stock, ink, cover sheets and binding, plus shipping them to several family members. But it's a labor of love, not an expense to worry about it.
