From Vancouver, WA to Baker City, OR

As we got closer to Baker City, the trees disappeared, and the bugs on the windshield increased.

Day 1 of our trip to Yellowstone National Park was uneventful.  We made it to Baker City, OR around 3:30 pm.  We're staying at Oregon Trail West RV Park.  It's on the road to the famous interpretive center which is located about 5 miles east of here.  We visited the interpretive center in May of last year on our way home from our Grand Circle trip.  It's a great museum, made even better because the entrance fee is waived if you have a national park pass.  I would have gone to it again this afternoon, but we have a nice pull-thru site and we didn't want to unhook the car.

This park is far enough from the freeway to be peaceful.  The temperature is just perfect, 75 degrees at 5 pm as I write this.  The low tonight is predicted to be in the high 40s, according to the Weather Bug app on my phone.

We had our choice in this RV park:  50 amp or satellite signal.  Since we don't need to run our air conditioning, we chose satellite signal.  The park offers free Tengo internet and the nightly RV rate after using our Good Sam discount was $24.30.

This guy greeted us at the door of the RV park.  All cowboys always leave their boots on, right?

Finally, for all you dog owners, this RV park has a very spacious, but weedy, dog area.

Tomorrow we plan to spend the night at American Falls, Idaho.  Before we leave Oregon, we will stop in Ontario for gas where the Gas Buddy app says the price is supposed to be $3.63, twenty cents less than at this park.
