Boat launch area
This park is a reservoir which was formed when the Salinas River was dammed. The reservoir is a major source of drinking water for the City of San Luis Obispo. 
We drove around the lake which we could clearly see was very low. Then we ate our picnic lunch as we overlooked the lake. After lunch, Dave and I decided to take one of the park's easy hikes, the Grey Pine Trail Loop.
As frequently happens to us, we never did find the loop part of the trail until after we had retraced our steps. Experienced hikers, we are not!

Big mossy rocks were in abundance.
Parasitic mistletoe was also in abundance along this trail. (Thanks for the identification, Donna K!)
We enjoyed our adventure hiking along this trail on this cloudy day. Maybe we'll do it again next year!
The prices do seem a little steep to me. Always exciting to figure out a new trail. I'm chomping at the bit to be able to do that again in the near future. ;)

Hey, that's a great walk. Donna has a real eye for mistletoe. (Hey, don't look at me like that.) We love going for walks on trails like that. Especially ones with mistletoe!

ReplyDeleteI find it a bit ironic that a plant that is the symbol for romance and smooching is a parasite that can suck the life out of its host. Just sayin'... (oh darn, now I've gone and ruined it!!)
