We are making good use of our time in Bellingham. Yesterday Jonathan and I both bought new phones at the Verizon store at the mall. We both had "free" upgrades and I needed a phone that would work with a hands-free Bluetooth device. Washington, Oregon, and California all now require hands-free cell phones while driving and those are the states where we travel most.
Also yesterday we and Jonathan met Tim and Kiersten for brunch at IHOP. They were on their way home from a hockey weekend in British Columbia, Canada. It was good to have all five of us together again, which hadn't happened since Jonathan was home after his graduation in June.
Sunday night we took Jonathan out to dinner at Olive Garden. It was great to see him!
Today Dave and I went on an excursion to Steveston Village, BC. It's located south of Richmond, which is south of Vancouver BC. Richmond is where the 2010 Olympic speed skating will be held. Steveston is an old fishing village that has been updated into a tourist destination. We ate lunch at Boston Pizza and on the way home we drove along Marine Drive in White Rock, BC, which is across the water from Blaine, WA. We crossed the border both ways at the I-5 Peace Arch crossing and waited only a couple a minutes each time.
Also on the way home to the RV park we stopped at a hardware store in one of our favorite towns, Lynden, WA. It's such a clean, nice town. Dave's football game at the Tacoma Dome is between Lynden and Archbishop Murphy high schools.
