Lost Creek State Park pictured below.
Ona Beach State Park--this would be a good place for a picnic if the weather cooperates.
Seal Rock State Park. This park was one of my favorites and I hope to go back again someday and walk along the rest of the trail to the beach.
Beachside State Park--the only one of these parks that has an overnight camping area. My following two pictures were taken from the day use area.
Smelt Sands State Park, Yachats--another park with a hiking trail. Dave wasn't feeling too well this trip and it was cold and windy, so we opted out of the hike.
Devil's Churn at Cape Perpetua--this is a national recreation area and therefore free with a national park pass.
This is another path that I would like to hike.
Dave and I were able to park in all of these state park day use areas free of charge and almost all of them were accessible right off Highway 101. We headed south from Newport and all the parks were located on the west (ocean) side of the highway. Cape Perpetua is only about thirty miles from Newport, so we didn't have to travel far. What a fun day!
The Oregon Coast can be a lot of fun. It can also be wet and dreary. Been there for both. Prefer the fun part!
ReplyDeletegreat trip down memory lane! thanks for the ride!!
ReplyDeleteYou went to all of those parks in one day?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful portrait of the gull, love it! You've got some great photos of some wonderful spots, and all of them are easy to get to, aren't they? So nice of you to share them. Glad you enjoyed some sunshine!
ReplyDeleteThat's one thing I love about the Oregon coast - one park right after another. So many beautiful places. Loved your pictures of some of my favorite places. We have had great fun at that interpretative center at Waldport. Walked down under the bridge with the grandkids several times. And they always seems to have some great driftwood on that beach (when the tide is out).
ReplyDeleteLooks like the whole coast is parks. Which is wonderful since it means it won't be developed. The Oregon coast is definitely one of the most beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreat ocean views, we sure hope to get up there on of these days!
